Opening up to the Light- a day of art and mindfulness- Wednesday February 28th 2018
The day will be an opportunity to explore expressive qualities of fading light and darkness and capturing the late Autumnal/ early Winter sense of being by the water. Focusing our attention and awareness to what is happening within and around us and using this creatively to express ourselves within our work.
Please join Heather for a truly special day working with late Winter senses of the River Stour on Wednesday 28th February 2018 from 10.00 am – 4.00pm
In this workshop we will explore our interpretation of opening up the increasing light as we start to move into the energy of late Winter/early Spring down by the River Stour, Suffolk. Working on our own within the support of a group we will integrate art practice with mindful experience. Mindfulness brings us into our senses, building attention, awareness and acceptance of our personal internal response as well as helping us to notice new things.
In these workshops we will
The group will be limited to eight people. Tea and Coffee (and cake!) are provided but please bring your own packed lunch, art materials and suitable outdoor gear for all weathers. A suggested list of what materials to bring will be sent closer to the day.
Held at the Visitor Education Centre at Great Cornard Lock, the day will focus on exploring and developing our art practice by integrating mindful experience and incorporates some time outside working by the riverbank and time developing work inside at the centre.
We will start with a short intro and taster to mindfulness practice and how it can enhance our creativity and response to what we see, feel and sense followed by getting outside by the River and recording using sketchbooks as well as collecting materials. We will then take this experience back to the Centre to develop a piece of work/s as a response.
